Seventeen Weeks

Baby is the size of an onion this week (which explains all my heartburn!). Average size is 5.1 in., 5.9 oz. Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from soft cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

We took baby to the New Jersey seashore this week.

Baby's First Vacation

We took a vacation to New Jersey and Pennsylvania to visit my (Devon's) relatives. We made a stop at the New Jersey seashore.

I've missed the ocean! The sand was so soft, and I could listen to the waves for hours.

We took a tour through Amish country in Lancaster, PA. Do you think we fit in?

... and visited the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.

Baby Gifts

My NJ family surprised us with gifts for the baby. Look how sweet! Thank you, Maxwells, Stanleys & Grandma! Baby will love these gifts.

Sixteen Weeks

This week, baby is the size of an avocado. Average size: 4.6 in., 3.5 oz. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. Tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up my voice.

Little Bitty Heartbeat

The baby's heartbeat is 153 beats per minute - healthy and strong!

Mamma Turns 30!

Travis threw me an amazing 30th birthday party. He transformed the entire basement into a little luau - complete with surfboards. Lots of friends, family, great music and yummy food. I had a blast. Thank you, sweetheart, for making my day so special and memorable! My 30th year is going to be an amazing, exciting, life-changing one. Though many people get a bit depressed to leave their twenties behind, God has blessed me with more than I could have imagined, including a sweet husband and a baby on the way. I have so much to be thankful for and I look forward to all this new decade has to bring!

I got lots of great baby items for my birthday, including this Boppy pillow from my sister and a nursing cover from my mom (fondly called the "hooter hider"). I can't wait to use it all!

An Outfitted Baby

As Travis mentioned in an earlier post, our new Saturday morning ritual is to get up early and hit the garage sales looking for great deals on baby items. We already have 2 pack-n-plays, a crib, a high chair, toys and this Saturday I bought a whole bin of baby clothes for $10! A few of them are boy clothes, but most can work for either gender. This baby will certainly be well-dressed!

And, since our baby will be born in the December, how cute is this little snuggly snowsuit?!? It is so soft and warm. Awwww.

The Miracle of Pre-Natals

For those of you who know me, I'm a nail biter. Shameful I know, but true nonetheless. But now that I'm taking pre-natal vitamins my nails are actually long and strong. I got a mani/pedi the other day and still can't believe they're my own nails!

Fifteen Weeks

This week, baby is the size of a naval orange. Average size: 4 in., 2.5 oz. Baby's legs are now longer that the arms and all joints and limbs can move.

It's becoming more difficult to fit into my regular pants.
I felt terrible during the first trimester but I have barely any nausea now. Whew! Now, all I want to do is sleep and eat. I crave salty things and actually have an aversion to most sweets. I never thought I'd turn down chocolate!

Armstrong's Got Nothing...

Travis rode 34 miles in the 22nd Annual Elephant Rock Cycling Festival. He's making sure he keeps off that baby weight!

Week Fourteen

Baby is the size of a lemon this week. Little Bitty is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and making urine. The liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop, and lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

Daddy Dub's Blog - Garage Sale Madness!!!

Dev and I have been hitting garage sales looking for baby stuff and here's the sad, but true fact about going to garage sales: you always find some piece of junk that you wanted at one time, forgot about it, and now it's there right in front of your face tempting you with a discount price -resistance is futile! Actually, I find that I'm most attracted to stuff I already own. When I see things I own for pennies on the dollar, I'm tempted to grab it. Why?

When looking for baby stuff, you can find EVERYTHING. If you can find everything that means some things are not worth getting. The key is finding the right thing at the right price. Additionally, we're finding there are so many clothes out there, but without knowing if we'll be having a boy or a girl yet, we're having to keep our cool. But I will say, I couldn't resist buying a boys baby Polo shirt complete with logo. If we don't have a boy, then I've got a designer dusting cloth! If anyone has great garage sale tips, we'd love to hear them. Please comment.

Today was our 12 week appointment and we got to listen to Little Bitty's heartbeat. Aww. The doctor said it sounded strong and healthy.

My waist is slowly disappearing!

Baby is the size of a lime this week. Average size: 1.6 in., .25 oz. Fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming.

I forgot to take a belly pic this week. Sorry!

This was a big week for baby! We had our first ultrasound and I got to see Little Bitty's hearbeat for the first time. Awwwww.

Seven Weeks

Baby is the size of a blueberry this week. Average size: .51 in. Baby's brain is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys is now in place!

One week into nausea and no bump to be seen ... aside from my normal gut, of course. :)

Six Weeks

Baby is the size of a sweet pea this week. Average size: .25 in. Baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. The heart is beating and blood is starting to circulate.

No bump yet, but the nausea began this week. No fun! And there's no such thing as morning sickness. It's more like all-day sickness.
